Porters - what hairy said...

At the end of the tenancy ( how long do you have left???) the landlord may not renew you anyway so you may be best starting from scratch.

Porters the credit check carried out by a letting agent is different from the one carrier out by a bank or credit card company. They will generally come back more favourably.

Good luck with it all and I will help where I can.

Porters

Did you get the email.

If you did then and you're accepting the help then this is on it's way to getting sorted.

If you're not accepting the help the there is not much more anyone here can do.

Re: Porters Avenue - WHOer in need
Yeh like I say, after the phone call I made to the landlord yesterday when he decided to go back on our agreement - even if paid I still think he would carry on with seeking possession.

Dead money as in, no point paying it if your out already....

Re: Porters Avenue - WHOer in need
Dead money as in accept I can't afford it and see what happens in court?

CAB were surprisingly unhelpful

Heath Hammer 9:43 Sun Oct 19
Re: Porters Avenue - WHOer in need
I am in also whichever way it goes

Having just skimmed through however it does sound like the amount owed should be left as dead money.

If the tenancy comes to an end the landlord can decide not to renew....and if he wantes to argue reasons why the deposit should not be returned.

Also there are some sceanrios where judges hands are tied by the law.
Porters - have you spoken with CAB

Great response so far.

At the moment Porters Avenue is taking some advice anything else that is needed will keep you informed, but really good to see that although this site is known for it's arguing and epic bants that when all is said and done there are some brilliant people on here.

It brings a lump to my trousers

Re: Porters Avenue - WHOer in need
Porters listen to Anarchy he is right, you have rights. No judge can justify to himself given your unfortunate circumstances to have you thrown out on the streets, without somewhere to go. Not that he gives a shit about you or your wife as you are adults and can take care of yourselves, your kids are the important ones and rightly so. You should be dealt with fairly because you of your circumstances, recent lost job and newborn.

For your landlord it is just business, you haven't paid and he just wants rid and someone in who can. It is not as easy as that though.

I've had a bit of experience in the past, family problems, redundancy, landlords, bailiffs, court cases. Aggro seems to have a habit of following me. I also have had some luck. WHOmail me if you ever need any advice.
